Robotics Startup Modbot Partners with Siemens

SAN FRANCISCO — November 14th, 2016 — Modbot announced today that the San Francisco based robotics startup has partnered with Siemens. The two companies will engage in a pilot program together, in which the startup will deliver a robotic solution for a current factory use case based on the Modbot modular platform.

“When we first met Modbot in late 2014 it was clear that their modular platform could provide unique value to Siemens,” said Osama Idrees, Senior Innovator at next47. “We found the perfect use case in one of our factories in Germany where we will be able to demonstrate the reduction of health risk and increase of efficiency together with Modbot.”

The robotic solution will be installed on the ground floor of one of the Siemens manufacturing facilities based in Nuremberg, Germany. The partnership will extend through to the next47, the new Siemens unit devoted to introducing startups and their new technologies to the greater Siemens organization.

“The partnership between Modbot and Siemens yields a unique opportunity for both parties,” said Daniel Pizzata, co-founder of Modbot. “For us, engaging in this pilot provides us with learnings that we can implement directly into our design process for our product. We’re looking forward to working with Siemens and implementing our solutions into their factories.”

Modbot is a rapid robot development platform making robotics massively accessible. With both modular hardware and a software solution, the Modbot platform delivers versatility and simplicity to the user with the power and precision of high-end machinery.

About Modbot

Founded in 2013, Modbot is the first modular robotics platform. Modbot delivers industrial quality robotics at affordable prices accessible to not only larger manufacturing firms but also educational institutions, and individual consumers. Using a system of reusable modules that snap together to create a variety of robotic configurations, the Modbot platform services many different applications. Once the robot is assembled, the software allows the user to not only program the robot, but also track data analytics, create a 3D environment and generate User Interfaces.
